I wish during Jazz Fest they would not put so many tables so close because certain areas get cramped but if you get a good seat, you can't help loving the show.

When a good band gets playing, the atmosphere here gets electric. I have had the pleasure of seeing some nice jazz shows here during the Rochester Jazz Fest the past few years including Brain Cloud, Moutin Factory Quintet, Renee Rosnes Quartet, Ikebe Shakedown, Tesse Souter and Ibrahim Electric to name a few. I wanted to see Doro here but that was on the worst weather day a few winters ago so I couldn't make it. I haven't seen another rock show here mainly because they haven't had many bands I have been interested in. Bands need to walk through the audience to get to the stage which adds to the vibe. The place has a capacity of about 300 and there really isn't a place where you don't have a good view of the stage.
#MONTAGE MUSIC HALL ADDRESS FULL#
The show had a good vibe with a full audience. The first show I saw here was the Misfits a few years OK. The place has a nice intimacy to it whether a jazz or rock show. On the left you have the entrances to the main stage area. Walking in to the place you have the bar to your right. Heck, the men's bathroom was even fairly clean: almost unheard of at smaller concert/bar joints like this! But if you're looking for a cozy little pub to enjoy live music without breaking the bank, The Montage is a terrific place. This venue is not a polished place by any means, and if you're looking for a gleaming facility you would be wise to check out a place like the Eastman Theatre.

My interactions with staff the night of the concert were universally pleasant. The drink prices were also surprisingly affordable. I'm so used to venues simply ignoring emails altogether, or not bother replying to them for hours/days, that it stunned me (in a good way) when their reply arrived so promptly. The first thing that blew me away is that there had been adverse weather, so I emailed the venue that morning to confirm the concert was still happening that night, and they replied to my email almost immediately. Last night attended my first concert there, and was very positively impressed. Typically attend shows at Water Street Music Hall (another fine little venue in town). While I've been enjoying live music in Rochester, NY for over 2 decades, for whatever strange reason I've not only never been to The Montage before, but I hadn't even heard of it.
